And no, I will not try eating one to see what happens. Thanks.

Life has really changed in the past year. We got married, we moved from LA to Omaha, and we bought our first house - a ranch. Since we've got so much going on we figured we'd better document it all - whether it serves as a success story or a cautionary tale to all newlywed couples who think remodeling a house sounds like a good idea. Here's a his and hers perspective on moving from the coast to the plains, and the joys and sorrows of home improvement.
They nearly all grow on wood, such as trees, logs, stumps, or buried wood. That's because these fungi are either decomposers or parasites, or both. I suspect buried wood of some sort, maybe old mulch or tree roots from a tree that was removed. I dare say Magnus will eat the mushrooms but of course that will be the first thing he does if I say he won't. Of all the breeds of dogs I have had I have never had one eat a mushroom out of the yard but I have never had a Westie. Mine too have shreaded kleenex and toilet paper but nary a shroon in the list.
ReplyDeleteWhew! Okay...I'm hoping the lawn mower will get rid of most of them. Magnus seems to prefer sticks to mushrooms.
