Before & After: The Mudroom

For those of you who live in a place where the term "mud room" is nonexistent, allow me to drop some knowledge. A mudroom is typically a room off the garage or entryway that is used for removing muddy boots, dropping a wet umbrella, leaving coats, etc.

In our case the mudroom has to double as a laundry room and office space for me.

Here are some before pictures:

Ooooh, pretty. Cream and hunter green checkered wallpaper as far as the eye can see. (if it hasn't made you cross-eyed yet, that is)

We were thrilled the previous owner managed to get added use out of the green toile curtains from the kitchen in this room. By the way has anyone noticed that by adding a "T" to the word toile you get TOILET? Ironic because that's where these draperies ended up. Well all of them except one panel that will be used to make a sassy golf accessory for our fabulous realtor Angie. (it's coming Angie...don't you fret!)

Actually I have nothing against toile - we just had too much of it. One wall would've been fine, a few curtain panels even...but the whole room? A bit much. And you're talking to the queen of a bit much.

Where was I? Oh yes! The after! Now keep in mind it's not totally finished - I need a bookshelf for my office supplies and MULTIPLE PR INDUSTRY AWARD TROPHIES (ahem...) and we'll eventually change the ugly laminate floors. I've purposely not shown you the other side of the room because I have five paint rollers, three DIY manuals and a whole lot of paint sitting on the utility sink. (not to mention the situation of the GAPING HOLE in the 1/2 bath.) But it's in a lot better shape than it was before!
